YOU ARE INVITED TO
TROY & JULIE'S WEDDING

GETTING HERE

Getting to St. John is easy if you know a few things ahead of time. Fly into St Thomas, USVI (STT). Take a taxi to Red Hook and take the ferry to Cruz Bay, St. John...

There are plenty of airlines offering flights to St Thomas: Delta, Jetblue, American, Spirit. You don't need a passport but it makes the process a little quicker and you can use TSApre when you leave. When you enter the terminal, collect your complementary welcome Flavored Cruzan Rum shot and grab your checked luggage. Upon exiting the baggage claim area, you should be greeted immediately by a taxi driver who will direct you to a taxi (a van, not a yellow NY style cab). All you have to say is how many are in your group & where you are going (Red Hook ferry dock). Taxi drivers are usually cash only. The prices should be listed on a board outside the airport ($17/ person + $6/ bag; no charge for backpacks). Now...sit back, relax, ask the taxi driver to please turn up the A/C, and enjoy the ride. You should make it to the Red Hook Ferry in about 30-40min. You can purchase tickets at the ticketing window or online at https://stjohnticketing.com. Be sure to purchase tickets for all carry-on & checked bags; backpacks are free. The Taxi ride is about 30minutes to Redhook. The ferry leaves every hour 6am-Midnight. You can buy your ferry ticket at Redhook to CRUZ BAY or buy them one online ($7.50 plus $2 per bag). The ferry ride is about 20 minutes, relax and enjoy the view, your almost there. Call or txt us and let us know you are on the ferry. We might have someone come meet you in CRUZ BAY.

WELCOME TO CRUZ BAY, ST. JOHN, USVI

Safari and Taxi drivers should be waiting to take you to Cinnamon Bay or wherever you are staying. Choose your ride and let us know you are on island...

When the ferry arrives step off on the dock and wait for them to hand you your bag if you have one, a tip for the crew is appreciated. Welcome to CRUZ BAY! Walk down the short dock and there will be SAFFARIS (taxis) waiting, Tell the driver you want to go to Cinnamon Bay, if you are staying at the camp ground. A safafari to Cinnamon Bay will cost $16, cash only. Otherwise if you're staying in Cruz Bay, it might be a short walk to where you are staying or take a taxi. The hills can be a real challenge if you're dragging a bag or two. Grand Bay and Gallows are a 5 minute walk or a couple bucks for a taxi. Tell the driver where you need to go. If you want to walk, you can walk along the beach or take the first street to the right, go to the end and walk to the right. Watch for cars - we drive on the left side of the road. Let us know you are on island and we will try to send someone to come meet you.

ACCOMODATIONS

Cinnamon Bay Campground is where we would love to have all of you stay! The campground offers "Eco-Tents", "Family Eco-Tents", "Cottages" and "Bare Sites" (probably not your first choice, but it is an option). Here is a link to reserve a spot at the campground. Tell them you are with the Miessau Wedding.

We understand camping is not for everyone and that others require more assistance. Staying in Cruz Bay is our alternative recommendation...
[ Click Here to Read Mom's Full Details ]

If you do not choose to stay at the campground, We highly recommend you try and find accommodations in Cruz Bay on St. John. You can look on AIRBNB, VRBO or search on St John USVI places to stay and you will find a couple resorts to choose from. Prices range from $200 per night for the campground to $800+ per night. A few places in Cruz Bay to look into are: Grand Bay, Battery Hill, Gallows and Lavender Hill. If you're not sure, contact us and we can give you some suggestions. We will arrange for rides from Cruz Bay Landing to the welcome party and to the wedding. You want to make sure you can make the walk from where you stay to Cruz Bay Landing. Taxis are another option but that will take time and coordination to setup. Our taxis are not like YellowCab and there are no ride shares (Uber, Lyft) on island. Let us know where you choosse to stay and we will try to help you make arrangements to get a ride. We don't want anyone to feel they need to rent a car. We drive on the left and it's challenging with the hills and sharp curves.
Staying on St Thomas is another option but we do not recommend this as a first choice. Time and cost getting to and from St John could add up and make it more costly than just the price of the stay.

WHAT TO WEAR

Many of you are flying in from warm weather locations, so you know how to dress for the tropics, but truly, less is more. The island atmosphere is casual and laid back. If you plan on attending a nicer dinner, one or two more formal options will be fine.
Pro tip: If you're in town after the beach, do wear t-shirt or cover-up, since walking around in only swimwear is frowned upon by the locals.

WELCOME PARTY

We will have a welcome party on Saturday, May 2nd. it will be a fun day on the beach at Cinnamon Bay. Pack your swim suit. It will be a day to mingle and meet family and friends. We want everyone to meet each other - from St. John, the stateside and from the Czech Republic.

WEDDING DAY

We will arrange transportation from Cruz Bay to Cinnamon Bay at 10AM. The Safari taxi will drop everyone off and it is a 6 minute walk to our favorite spot on the beach. The ceremony will be on the beach so wear appropriate shoes (flips). After the ceremony we will all ride taxis to Oppenheimer Beach for the reception. It's a semi-private venue where we will have plenty of food and drink and music to set the mood as we celebrate the big day. You can even bring your bathing suit. We will be celerbrating on Oppenheimer Beach until 5:30. By 6PM Safari taxis will take guests back to Cruz Bay where they can call it a day or continue the party as we roam from site to site. We want to stop by Woody's, Beach Bar, Downstairs, DR!NK and some of our other hangouts.

THE DAY AFTER

Cinco de Mayo

There's a Mexican restaurant we often visit called Greengos. Cinco de Mayo will be a day to relax, visit some beaches or hangout at Greengos. The family has arranged for a family boat trip around St John. We want everyone to have a chance to visit some of the beautiful spots around the island and even memories before heading back home.

  • Our Favorite Beaches

Beaches on St John are always in the worlds best top 10 list: Trunk Bay, Honeymoon Beach, Cinnamon Bay...

  • Recommendations & Suggestions

Don't rent a car. We drive on the left side of the road and the raods are narrow and steep. We will arrange transportation.

  • Boat Rentals & Charters

You can rent a small dingy or we might gather some people and charter a boat the day after the wedding.

  • Our Favorite Bars

Some of our favorite places to enjoy a drink or watch a sunset are: Drink, beachbar, Windmill Bar, Woody's, Downstairs,..

  • Our Favorite Restaurants

Our favorite fine dining is at Extra Virgin Bistro, and casual dining at Speakeasy.

  • Getting Around the Island

Use the Safari taxis. They only take cash and they go to all the beaches. Parking is very limited on island, and Safari taxis are much safer than driving a rental car.

May The Fourth Be With You!

We hope you can join us for the biggest celebration of our lives.
